Should white immigrants be banned from New Zealand?
So apparently – there was a report produced by the Department of Labour (who run Immigration New Zealand), that said that Maori in New Zealand were more likely to express anti-immigration feelings than any other ethnicity. Now that in itself is not actually offensive – people can and will believe as they wish – and honestly I would be surprised if the findings were different. I imagine you could ask the same question in any country and get the same response and I do not actually think anti-immigration feeling equates to racist feelings – I think that they are two totally seperate issues.
But what has turned this on it’s head is the bizarre (and truly convoluted) brain-fart racism that has exploded out of the mouth of a head-up-her-backside “academic” at Auckland University – who appears to know diddly squat about immigration – and a lot about the worthiness of her own “intelligence”.
Margaret Mutu has suggested that immigration from “white” countries – particularly the US, UK and South Africa – should be cut because people from those countries have “White Supremacist attitudes”.
Oh really?
Because -like – her attitude just speaks of tolerance and racial understanding??? I really am sick of twats like this – racist to the core – whining about others being racist. Get a sodding grip you stupid woman. She is the head of Maori Studies at Auckland Uni – yes – this jumped up windbag is actually teaching young people – and spreading this kind of crap to a new generation who will be taught to hate white people.
So here is what I don’t understand (probably cos I’m not a “professor” like Mrs Head up her backside Mutu and my poor immigrant brain cant cope with the hard stuff!)
1/ If the report talks about the fact that it is predominantly Maori who express more racist views – how on earth does that get turned round in this woman’s head that white immigrants = white supremacists?
2/ Where on earth has the silly bint dredged up any proof that white immigrants = white supremacists? I mean- she’s an academic – surely she has some proof to back this up?
3/ It appears that Ms Mutu is actually Scottish on her mother’s side – I would like to know which half of herself she is going to force to leave NZ for white supremacist leanings – since it is seemingly that easy to tell!
4/ Refusing to back down – Ms Brain Fart has suggested that Immigrants be tested for racist feelings when coming here – how does someone hell bent on making this kind of commentary (and being a clever little professor) not know that all immigrants have to sign the following statement when we apply to immigrate:
Have you or any of your family members included in your application ever been:
• a member of, or associated with, any group of persons or organisation which, at the time of membership or association, had objectives which were based on hostility against persons or groups of persons on the basis of their colour, race, or ethnic or national origin, or were based on a representation that persons of a particular race or colour are inherently inferior or superior to other races or colours?
5/ How come the likes of Mrs Mutu and Hone Harawira do not have adhere to that – but will endlessly claim – with no factual basis whatsoever, that because I happen to be born white (and worse English) that I automatically have such leanings – and worse will receive no punishment for doing so. Whereas clearly a white person would be sacked by now – not allowed to hide behind “freedom of speech”. (Personally she has every right to be as racist and stupid as she likes – I just don’t see why she should be paid for it – or paid to teach others to think the same way.)
6/ Muti claims she isn’t racist because
“Racism is defined in the academic books as an ideological and attitudinal phenomenon of superiority of your race, and that in combination with power, if that superiority is used to deprive another group of what is rightfully theirs on the basis of their race, that is the definition of racism.”
How can someone who thinks she is so clever be so monumentally stupid? I mean – “I cant be a racist because I looked it up in a book and I don’t fit the book’s definition”? I guess it is lost on her lofty thinking that she is in fact determining that she is superior to white immigrants because she isnt a white and thus not a nasty white supremacist. Also, how can someone so clever claim she isnt in any way depriving entire countries full of people of the right to determine for themselves whether or not they are white supremacists – instead of having her decide for them – because she is Maori (well – Half Maori half scottish) and they aren’t – so clearly she is superior enough to make that determination. Even by her own “academic drivel” defination she is a racist – who just doesn’t seem to think she could possibly be one because she isn’t all white.
7/ Possibly the most important – how come she doesn’t get that immigration by whites IS restricted in NZ? Its restricted for everyone. Not one of us who has been through the rigorous process would ever think anything other than we fought tooth and nail to prove our worth. There are limited places allowed for immigrants – and we have to be damn good to get one of them.
So whats the outcome?
Well, pretty much universally Margaret Mutu is seen as being exactly the thing she claims I must be – racist. She looks like a right idiot – she looks stupid and ignorant. There are calls for her to be sacked and the leader of Nga Puhi Iwi has lodged a formal complaint to the race relations commisioner. I think it is important to understand that despite what people like Margaret Mutu and Hone Harawira would like eery to believe, not all Maori hate, despise or blame whites for thier current problems. And not all whites here think Maori are lazy bludgers. Most people here, in my experience anyway – are actually smart enough – and human enough – to understand there are issues on both sides that need dealing with. But they still seem to manage to treat other with some decency and respect.
Clearly there are white supremacists in New Zealand. There are also quite a few Brown Supremacists as well – and some of them are in Parliament – so this is something you need to be aware of.
For the record – I (white though I may be) do not think I am superior to anyone who isn’t white. I cannot say That I am not a judgemental person (as anyone who reads this blogs could probably testify), but I judge people on who they are – how they treat me and others. I can also say that I do however think I am vastly superior to Margaret Mutu. It has nothing to do with me being English or white and her being half Maori (or indeed half scottish!). I feel that way because this is a person who has shown that they treat other people appallingly – thay have no respect for others and they are completely ignorant of the facts they claim to be “expert” about. Any person with attitudes as dumb as Ms Mutu’s is someone I feel superior towards. It’s kinda like thinking I must be a better person than someone who think’s its fun to kick small dogs.
Edited to add: Theres another article out today about this Having dug herself into a hole – Ms Mutu is intent on digging further by continuing to defend her comments as not-racist on account of Maori Cannot Be Racist Because They Dont Have Any Power. I suggest that Maori who do have power (and there are plenty) – may be a bit peeved at that assertion. This is the first article on the topic in the mainstream media that has allowed comments – something in itself that I find distasteful – why was she protected from the disgust her comments would bring? The comments are encouraging – people of all races standing up to to counted as NOT accepting racism – from anyone. Also a fair few explaining to miss cleverclogs how to use a dictionary – it’s kinda priceless
It’s all a bit depressing really :(
Well, I think this is the longest Ive ever gone without blogging since I started this, and basically that’s because this last week or so has just left me feeling a little deflated about life here. I’ll get over it (before the calls for me to “get a life” start), in fact I’m already completely over all the fuss already – hence I’m back giving my (humble) opinion. (Thats for my mum!)
So what exactly has been so depressing? Well, it’s the “race rows” that have seemingly gripped the country for a while, and the absolute tosh that has been spouted on both sides of the argument.
OK, so what happened?
Well, theres this guy on the Breakfast program here – Paul Henry. He has the humour level of a 5 year old. He’s puerile, crass and ignorant, but hey – a lot of people like that in their humour. It’s just not my taste – but then I like Geek Humour.
But Mr Henry finally seems to have crossed a line, by suggesting to the Prime Minister that when choosing the next Governor General of New Zealand, he chooses someone who looks and sounds like a proper New Zealander, unlike the current incumbent – Sir Anand Satyanand. Who is, it turns out born in Auckland. And thus a proper New Zealander. He just Looks like he’s Indian – well – because his parents are Fijian Indians.
It sparked outrage, but only in some quarters. In other quarters – people almost started chanting a line that came from the bosses of TVNZ – that Paul Henry is only saying what most people think but are too scared to say. Well, thats a cheery thought. And some of the outrage about Paul Henry wasn’t much better. One comment on Facebook accused him of not understanding what Kiwis think and he should “bugger off back to pommyland where he came from”. Only Paul Henry too is born in New Zealand. He spent 9 years in the UK – but that does not make him a Brit. And the sheer hypocrisy of the statement -(because he’s white and a twat he must be British?) was lost on the (ex) Facebook friend.
Now I knew nowt about this Governor General. Yeah Ive seen him on telly – but until now have never actually heard his voice. I’m happy to say that to me – he sure sounds like a Kiwi.
But worse, it seems that prior to this – Paul Henry had also taken the piss out of the Indian Government Minister responsible for sorting out the debacle of the Commonwealth games. Sheila Dikshit. Pronounced Dik-Sit. Obviously he ignored this, and his manic laughter and behavior has to be seen to be believed. But for me, the bit that really makes this guy into a rather revolting specimen, is what he actually says about her – that the name suits because she’s – you know – indian – like a dick in shit.
You’ll notice that the tag from the person who posted this on YouTube says:
Classic and extremely funny. NZ TV at its Best
This is funny how exactly?
Eventually, Paul Henry resigned. Eventually. He wasn’t sacked. But then just the week before he had won the Popular Vote as the nations favorite TV presenter, and while there is undoubtedly outrage and horror at his behavior, 70,000 people are on a Facebook group wanting him back on TV. That’s a fair amount of people in this country, who think he was just being funny.
Now I get it – some people found it funny, and don’t see this as racism. They see it as someone having a laugh and a joke. And I personally do think that in a lot of ways “Racism” is used too often as means to stifle opinion, free speech, and argument – for fear of being labeled a racist. But really – was it funny? It was a little man, who knows that so far hes got away with being offensive and nasty towards a lot of people – and he did it once too often, and about the wrong person.
Of course – it’s not as simple as all that. Hone Harawira hasn’t been sacked for his just as racist comments about white -people. In fact, Pita Sharples, the co -leader of the Maori Party is one of the people who was calling for the sacking of Paul Henry, while in a stunning case of racist hypocrisy gave Hone Harawira 2 weeks off to “think about things”. So still in New Zealand, a Maori MP has carte blanche to hate white people and say so, but a TV presenter cant hate Indians and say so.
And to further muddy the waters, after the howling and condemnation from the Indian community (and who can blame them really) it seems that a while ago, here in Wellington a blond, blue eyed Fijian Indian was booed and heckled at the Miss IndiaNZ. Apparently she wasn’t considered really Indian because – well – she doesn’t look Indian!

What a “True Kiwi” thinks of Immigrants.
This came in as a comment, and while I have left in place under the post it refers to, I thought it deserved a blog all to itself, as a reflection of some of the ignorance you can face as a migrant. This attitude is obviously not confined to New Zealand, but given that its actually damn difficult to migrate here, and people like this just have no conception of how much we have to prove ourselves – I thought it was interesting just how little “True Kiwi’s” understand about their own immigration policy. Quite what this persons rant has to do with the IAA situation I have no idea -but hey.
I’d hate to be honest with you my friend but you have a problem with immigration. And I’m happy about this. I would rather see your brother not get into New Zealand. I was born in New Zealand and most of my community (or those that can be considered true kiwi’s) believe that it is immigrants that destroy my country. You feed off the Goverment and you love the fact that New Zealand allows you benefits that your country did not offer you. You will offer nothing back to this country. I have sat here and watched imigrants come into my country and complain that we are underdeveloped and completley judge our ways of life. You migrants need to realise that you may be in New Zealand but if you are to come into our country you need to stop complaining otherwise pack your bags and go home. Because if you have a problem with our laws (as you are stating above) then why are you here? Why would you come to New Zealand? You anger me emensly with your complaints and I am sick of hearing about people like you.
No Shit Sherlock – I’ve got a problem with immigration – bright aren’t you?
I hate to be honest with you “friend” but you are talking out of your arse.
While you are quite within your rights to hate immigrants – for no other reason than we are “immigrants” – you need to understand that if we all buggered off back to where we came from – your country would collapse in on itself. You would lose skills “True Kiwis” don’t have, you would lose all our money – without which your economy would collapse, and your population would go into terminal decline because so many “True Kiwis” hate New Zealand and can’t wait to leave and go somewhere else.
Fact is “Friend” – your lot don’t like this place much either ![]()
And please – stop talking shite about how us “immigrants” offer nothing to “your” country. You are probably entirely ignorant of this – as of so much else, but we need to prove ourselves to your government over and over. A damn site more than you would have to do if you wanted to leave this place. New Zealand has one of the toughest immigration policies in the world – and while that is a good thing – it does mean that if we have proven good enough to get through – you sure as hell are not in position to be rude about what we offer “Your” country. The fact is we offer a lot more than most Kiwis – otherwise we would not be allowed in.
You may hate the fact that other races get to live in “your” country – but that’s your problem, and your ignorance and racism – it does not diminish the vast benefits New Zealand gets from immigration – or the fact that you need us.
And about the benefits “your” country offers us that we don’t get back home. You are once again showing your enormous ignorance. The UK offers us free healthcare – of a much higher standard that the not quite so free NZ system – and benefits that are way in excess of what New Zealand can offer it’s bludgers. You on other hand can go and sponge of the (free) UK health and benefits system if you wanted to and do much better than you would here. My parents and brother are not entitled to any benefits in New Zealand for the first 2 years that they are residents. If they needed it – we have to support them. I guess the two years means that we will all have given enough to “your” country that we have finally been deemed worthy of your paltry benefits system. This is of course on top of the five years “your” country has already had of our skills and money of – paying for “true kiwis” to bludge off our taxes.
If we were after benefits – we would indeed have stayed in the UK. Of course as a “True Kiwi” you seem to be of the opinion that anything New Zealand could offer has to be way better than anything from any other country. Sometimes that is the case – often it’s not. Get over it – New Zealand doesn’t always have the best of everything.
It says much about you that your first thought of anyone is that they want to bludge off the state. Why? Is that what you do? Why would you think that I would want my family to come to a country and be so dirt poor that they would need handouts from the state? I can support my own family thank you. And “your” country lets them in because “your” country wants their money. Do you really feel so proud of yourself now?
And yes – I have a problem with one of your laws –I will not go into that – as I really don’t think you are capable of understanding – the information is all there if you actually want to read it. I am a New Zealand citizen – and I can damn well object to being refused the right to free speech if I want to. If you don’t like that – YOU move to a country where I am not allowed to speak out.
You have shown you and your “Community” of “True Kiwis” to be entirely racist and ignorant – and thankfully you are not the voice of the Kiwi’s I know of, who would be embarrassed by your shitty and backward attitude.
Besides – what the hell do you – in your unbelievable arrogance – consider a “True Kiwi” anyway? Do you have the faintest idea how stupid you are are if you think there is any such thing anywhere anymore?
If you want to make any further comments on my blog – please read This Post first.
Edited to add:
Via the magic of WordPress – I can tell you that ”True Kiwi” got to my site via a google search using the term “Im a migrant and I hate new zealand”. My blog came up at the IAA post because it contained the term “I am a migrant”. So it looks like ”True Kiwi” was just looking to have a racist rant about immigrants, and my blog just got in his path. Sad Git.

Racism in New Zealand.
[Takes a deep breath]
This is one of those topics that is really hard to write about – because so many migrants wanting to come here just do not want to believe that a place full of such warm and friendly people can also play host to some of the most awful racism you are likely to see. We were told by a friend back in the UK, and like most people – chose to think they were overreacting.
I decided in the end to write this post because racism is in the news this week after some highly unpleasant comments were made in an email by a sitting MP – Hone Harawira – of the Maori party. A (kiwi) friend made a comment to the effect that this was funny. Now it has to be said that reading comments on news sites suggests that most people in New Zealand are appalled at these comments – and this included many, many Maori who are ashamed that someone this ignorant claims to speak for them. But it also shows that there are plenty of people in New Zealand who think racism is acceptable. One comment I saw says, “Racism is in the eye of the beholder”.
OK then. Nice to know. I’m assuming that this also applies to the injustices Hone believes were done to his people? Possibly they are supposed to just get over it and stop stealing land back? I don’t think so. You see this is often a comment I have heard and seen by otherwise sensible people. They don’t think their comments are racist – so they aren’t. If you are offended – then there’s something wrong with you and you need to get a life.
The daftest thing about these particular comments from Hone Harawira – is that you cannot tell someone if Maori (or not) by the colour of their skin. There is no longer any such things as a “pure” Maori, so this racial hatred really is quite pathetic. What are people supposed to do – chop their arms off if it’s the “white bit”???
And its not just some low-life MP who feels whites are scum. Asian, Mexican, Black friends – get just as much hatred poured on them by white and Maori New Zealanders alike. From “F Off you Asian bastards” to appalling abuse from healthcare “professionals” given to a Mexican friend (who lets face it must have married her Kiwi Husband just to get out of the third world nightmare that was Mexico to come and fleece off the wonderful first world NZ healthcare system where she has been treated worse than a dog.) To Black teachers from the UK who have been hounded out of their jobs because they are not the “nice white brits” that the school expected. (You can’t see someone’s skin colour when you hire from abroad – apparently it came as a shock to the school that people from Birmingham are not all white.)
You may end up hearing racist comments the way people talk about the weather. So many times when we have talked about our Immigration Problems we get comments about why are pacific islanders are let in? – they are all lazy, fat and stupid. Or comments about how Maori all fleece the benefits system, so why is such a fuss being made about letting in the “good” people? (That would be us).
Seriously – sometimes I can’t help but wonder why people in New Zealand hate so many other people based on prejudice, skin colour and ignorance. Generally speaking if you are white – you are actually immune from most of it. You will probably at some point face the stupid phrase “Your lot did (insert historical injustice of choice that had bugger all to do with “your lot” but hey – why let the truth get in the way of a good grudge). Except that you have to watch seeming sensible people spout crap about non-whites. But occasionally the shoe is on the other foot – and we get to see quite clearly what our friends of other colours have to go through almost all the time in this “friendly”country.
The comments made by Hone Harawira can be seen here.
Hone Harawira’s apology can be seen here.
I think it’s worth noting that he did not use taxpayers money to fund his trip to paris (well know bastion of white culture), what he did wrong was to bunk off work and take a sightseeing trip while he was supposed to be representing “his people” in brussels.
