Ranfurly Beer – currently running a range of really funny billboards – just makes you grin as you go past them!

Sourced from Ads of the world.

Im guessing from some of the comments on thier that this is for advertising types, as they didnt “get” the billboards. I find them really funny. I thought an injection of humour was in order as Ive been writing some fairly hard blogs this week, and have another three set to go.

I don’t know of many Brits who “get” pineapple lumps. I guess you have to be a Kiwi! Funny ad though.

And BTW New Zealand-

its not a lolly if it doesn’t have a stick in it!!!!

I thought we could do with a bit of unadulterated humour round here.

So, courtesy of Mitre 10 – here’s a funny TV advert.

And to lighten up the day …

Ok, I’ve had my NZIS rant for the day – so here is some more Kiwi Advertising magic to brighten things up a little. I was hoping to post some more of the BNZ Pigs – but it looks like BNZ doesn’t want the WWW advertising them for free on You Tube – all the links I could find had messages along the lines of “This video has been removed”. Sheesh – it seems BNZ really doesn’t want people to find out about them!

So instead – we have Toyota Hilux. These adverts are somewhat in keeping with the fact that Top Gear utterly failed to destroy a Hilux – they are hysterically funny. Not unlike demolishing a building on top of a Hilux and still getting it to work.

Toyota Ads don’t tend to stay on air very long – due to the fact that too many people complain about them – possible because they are funny, rude and don’t scream at you. On saying that – there is some bad language – so don’t watch if you are likely to be offended!

And this one is for Top Gear Fans:

Who are the BNZ pigs?

Readers in New Zealand keep calling the pig on the cover of my book the BNZ pig - which won’t make a whole lot of sense to anyone who has yet to make the move over here. So I thought – as this weeks posts are a bit serious and I still have more dirt to dish on the Auditor Generals report – I’d introduce the pigs.

A few years ago – BNZ had the startling idea of running a decent ad campaign. Most TV ads in New Zealand seem to work on the premise that if they scream at you loud enough, you are bound to buy their products. They are on the whole painful and embarrassing to watch.

But when NZ does good ads – they do them brilliantly well. This was one of them. BNZ – despite being a lousy bank came up with a bunch of animated piggy banks (not dissimilar from the one on this website it has to be said). They have several adventures starting with this one:

Unfortunately you can’t buy or collect a set of these (think the Nat West Pig family that now sell to collectors for silly money). This is because when staff started telling BNZ that they thought it would be a really good idea – apparently the marketing people got a bit “put out” and told them to leave marketing to them. The result of which is that you will see naff plastic version, which looks nowt like the amazing characters in the adverts.

Doh!

Edited to add: For Pyrites – the Pigs go for a picnic family gathering.
