The grass is always greener

There’s a lot of debate going back and forth over whether NZ has a better quality of life than the UK, or the UK has more going for it than NZ etc.

Things like; NZ MP’s would never rort the system. (yeah right)  UK companies would never make good workers redundant and so on.

Even in the very quiet Wairarapa there are those who think the grass is greener on the other side.

greener

I expect there always will be.

  2. So true and it’s something I’ve thought of often. There are pros and cons to living here – and living there – and so much depends on ones personal circumstances and what is important to that individual at whatever stage there are at in their lives. And then there are outside circumstances, beyond a persons control, that may influence their decision (jobs, health, personal finances etc.).

For me, I seriously don’t think we’ll be living in New Zealand for the rest of our lives, though we will live here for long durations of time. I anticipate us living in Europe when our children are in their twenties and most probably back packing or working in Europe themselves. We would enjoy the cultural diversity at that time in our lives and be closer to our parents and other extended family who may need our assistance at that time in their lives.

In the meantime, whilst we are here, we endeavour to live in the moment and enjoy it. There’s little point in wasting ones entire life thinking ‘the grass is greener’. For the now, we are in the right place for our current circumstances.
