INZ have broken privacy laws in mixing up someone elses file and sending you thier information. If you have enough Information to be able to contact that person – then please consider doing so – as it was thier privacy that was breached, and they are the ones who can really rake INZ over the coals. Also, I requested my wife and my complete files, pursuant to the official information act, which formed some interesting reading. One of the highlights, there was another women ’s file mixed in with my wife’s file You would have thought the penny would have dropped when they read the other persons name on my wife’s file, but no. INZ gave this information to John Keys office, who was making some inquiries on my behalf. They were told things like my wife’s sponsor met her in Beijing where they married. The sponsor at that time was a female. When I rang John Keys office to see if they had made any progress with their inquiries, I received a different attitude from when I initially discussed our case with them, she was very rude to me and even to the point of hanging up on me. It wasn’t until I received the disclosure of our files that I discovered why. They had been told a complete different story to the one I told them and of course they believed what was on the Immigration files, as you would. Who would expect information on as an important government department’s files, to be totally wrong and belong to another person.
