This month I shall be mostly watching movies

This month I shall, hopefully, mostly be going to the movies.

The NZ International Film Festival is on, and unlike most other ‘international/world’ events in NZ (which just means someone from South or West Island has been invited), this is a truely international thing.  It even comes to a town near us – being in Masterton during October.  For July, it’s in Wellington and my viewing plans go something like this;

The Secret of Kells

Which looks rather cool, and I’d have to admit I’ve not managed to read the Book of Kells – despite having a very nicely illuminated copy of it on the bookshelf (somewhere!).

Moon

Which sounds a little like Silent Running with a twist..

In the Loop

Armando Iannucci, a very witty and dry writer directs this.  Absolutely gonna be good.

Paper Soldier

This is probably my ‘off the wall’ suggestion which Avalon is likely to wonder about.  Still, that was also the initial thought when I suggested seeing Bowling for Columbine, and An Inconvenient Truth – both of which she loved! ;)

Oh, and there’s some Harry Potter movie coming out next week which we’ve already got tickets for.  Big family outing into Wellington for the evening to watch the penultimate installment.  Should be rather impressive.

  2. Although I am lovingly reminded that we’ve seen the original book of Kells in Dublin on a couple of occasions. Nice illumination from what I now recall.
