Does Dilbert work at IBM New Zealand? (Updated)
IBM has just opened it’s new office in Petone, (Pet-o-knee) just outside Wellington. It is purpose built and designed to be an ecologically friendly building. So it was with some (lack of?) surprise that hubby found there were no mugs in the office with which to make his (non-free) tea. Not even for customers visiting the site.
Instead – they have paper cups.
DOH!
Very green. Hardly gonna save the planet by reverting to throw away cups. And they are not actually that smart for drinking hot stuff out of. Hubby wonders if he will have to take his own loo roll in next week.
Dilbert once again says it well:
And the follow up – which is even funnier.

since the cups are made of recycled paper and can be recycled after usage this should be green enough
Just because it looks “green enough” doesnt make it green
Hey – not ecologically friendly don’t think there was much habitat there before…. but certainly not environmentally friendly with all lights blazing away at 8.25 pm – maybe those IBM-ers just can’t keep away!!!
By the way that was 8.25pm on a Saturday night after the fab fireworks and a not so fab 50 min wait at Kelim for something to eat!!!
Won’t be going back there!!!
Andy reminds me that the service was slow the last time we went too!
hi Fran
You sure people weren’t there watching the fireworks??
The view from the new office isn’t as good as the old office. We’re only on floors 2&3, which hardly manages to look over the top of the old office..
Still – good to hear the fireworks were fab
We once had coffee at Kelim (I think its owned by the same people that run Istanbul in Carterton). It was crap and we also never went back.
Tell me what you're thinking...
