Appalling Immigration decisions.
A man was supposed to be deported from New Zealand after being sentenced to two years in Jail (for which he only served 2 months in jail and the rest on home detention) and fined $5000, for raping a 13-year-old boy.
His deportation order has been quashed by the Deportation Review Board on the basis that it would cause “irresolvable misery” to the rapist and his family.
WHAT????
Who gives a stuff??? Why the hell are we spending more than half a second worrying about the misery to this man if he has to live apart from his family? He should have thought about that before he raped someone. If his family are concerned they can go with him.
This absolutely makes my blood boil. How many of us migrants get treated like garbage by Immigration officials because we decide we want to live here in New Zealand? How many of us are put under the most appalling pressure as we seek again and again to justify that we are worthy of a place here? Who gives a flying fig about the “irresolvable misery” we get put under as we try to reunite with our families?
Many families who take their case to the Residence Review Board are told that if the miss their families – they are free to travel anytime back to their home country to visit.
And yet this guy gets to stay – despite committing possibly the worst crime known to man, because it will cause upset to his family.
“Compassionate Circumstances” my arse! The day Immigration decisions have anything to do with compassion is the day we will be snowball fighting in hell.
To Quote OhyeahBabe from LCF “If you aren’t completely appalled, you aren’t paying attention”
Rant over.
The Deportation Review Tribunal has three members, one of whom is the Chairperson and who must be a Barrister or Solicitor of the High Court of not less than five years practice. It deals with appeals from people subject to deportation as a result of a conviction or revocation of a residence permit.
